The Gang Intervention Program provides a variety of services to gang-involved and /or youth involved in high risk behavior in order to reduce the impact of these behaviors in the life of the youth with whom we work and within the Muckleshoot community.  These are the services provided through the Gang Intervention Program.

 

  • Individual Counseling - positive self-esteem development, mentoring, life skills, intervention, and case management)

 

  • Advocate Services - assistance and/or referrals for legal assistance, and securing documents such as identification, birth certificates, and social security number.

 

  • Culture Education- providing opportunities for youth to connect and appreciate their cultural identity helps them develop self-confidence, resiliency and pride

 

  • Intervention Groups - Youth Voices, Auburn High gang intervention, Olympic Middle School, Life Skills with Job Corps participants, Muckleshoot Tribal School and Child Development Center early childhood gang prevention .

 

  • Recreation- such as late night activities, promote  safe, structured, well supervised activities which develop positive peer interaction and also encourages youth participation in alcohol/drug free activity.

 

  • Community Education- understanding the causes and impact of gangs assists a community in dealing with this social phenomenon.
